Because of technology, we do not need to remember things like phone numbers, reminders, and countless other things. Technology has provided us a way to offload our memory to electronic devices. There continue to be advances and more human tasks will be replaced or made easier through the use of technology. Is this a bad thing? Is there something vital about being human that requires that we actually remember everyone’s names, birthdays or interests? Is technology taking away some of what makes us human or does it simply provide assistance to do what we as humans really want? I think the real aspect of humanness is not simply data storage and retrieval, but the desire and ability to interface with others. Since I still maintain the inclination to get to know people and communicate with them, I would love the help that technology offers.
